Work as part of team that includes Hematology-Oncology physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nursing, social work, physical therapy, child life and clinic assistants. The Hematology-Oncology department at Children's of Minnesota provides care for children of all ages with all types of malignancies including brain tumors, solid tumors, and leukemia; and blood disorders such as sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, and anemia. As the largest provider of services for children with cancer and bleeding disorders in the region, the Hematology/Oncology program focuses on providing well-coordinated knowledge-driven clinical care. We participate in national and international research and are leaders in research on supportive care and quality of life for children with cancer and bleeding disorders. Position Summary The Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) Contract Specialist will be responsible for working with internal departments (outpatient pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, homecare pharmacy, and hemophilia treatment pharmacy, and payer contracting) to determine barriers for patients accessing Children's Minnesota pharmacies. This role will interact with external pharmacy benefit managers and health insurers to obtain fair and equitable contracts and agreements to provide patients access to Children's Minnesota pharmacies. Yes License/Certification/Registration: *Registered and Certified Pharmacy Technician required Education: *Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, or five years of experience in a pharmacy environment or healthcare industry required Experience: *2-5 years retail or specialty pharmacy, preferred *1-3 years pharmacy benefit or health insurance contract management, required *1-3 years' experience in specialty pharmacy billing, preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: *Understanding of pharmacy operations and insurance/claims management *Ability to navigate complex organizations *Ability to effectively analyze financial benefits and results of contractual agreements *Excellent presentation skills to external and internal audiences *Clear understanding of clear-white-brown bagging and associated safety and access barriers *Awareness of current legislation around payers The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs. In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, etirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
