Depending on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications, the hire will be for a Paralegal or a Senior Paralegal. Duties and Responsibilities Under the general direction of the director of the Transactions Group and under the supervision of one or more attorneys in OGC, the successful candidate will respond to client inquiries and review agreements for a wide range of commercial transactions, including: * Purchase and sale of goods and services * Software agreements * Facility use agreements * Sponsorship agreements * Liability releases * International program agreements OGC retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position. This is a hybrid position with required on-site work on Tuesdays and remote work on the other days of the week. OGC employees working remotely are expected to work in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area so they will be able to come into the office if needed. This is a civil service position, job code 0491GC or 0492GC. Qualifications The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is seeking a full-time paralegal to assist attorneys in commercial transactions. Depending on the successful candidate's experience and qualifications, the hire will be for a Paralegal or a Senior Paralegal. Required for Senior Paralegal: The successful candidate must possess each of the following: * At least four years of experience as a paralegal advising, negotiating and drafting commercial agreements * Associate or higher degree or paralegal certification from an ABA-approved institution or the Minnesota Paralegal Association Required for a Paralegal - Associates degree plus at least two years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least four years of experience. May require Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved institution or the Minnesota Paralegal Association. Desired: * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Strong attention to detail * Outstanding analytical and interpersonal skills and cross-cultural competencies * Highest level of integrity and professionalism * An ability to independently manage and prioritize work * Having worked collegially and professionally in a diverse environment * Computer and word processing expertise, including Word, Excel, GMail and Google Drive About the Department Eight attorneys and three paralegals make up the Transactions Group in OGC.
