As a member of OIT's Oracle Database Infrastructure agile team, you will provide technical expertise to operate a stable infrastructure to meet the needs of the University and champion the continuous improvement of existing database administration practices. You will work closely with collaborative cross-unit teams who make up the entire IT stack to achieve shared goals. You will also guide and inform the work of colleagues in other teams. This position requires the ability to operate within industry standard practices, adapt to and quickly learn new processes and technologies, and handle multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously with a close attention to detail under moderate supervision. This position is a vital part of the success of data administration at the University. This role provides operational support of the Enterprise Oracle Database Hosting service to the University. This role will be accountable to the day-to-day support of the Oracle databases, including managing the support ticket queue and monitoring the Oracle ecosystem and is expected to act as a primary resource for escalated issues to the Database Hosting service. Job Responsibilities: Triage, research and resolve reported Oracle Database issues. Provide escalation support for database related issues Coordinate Oracle Database maintenance across support teams. Communicate Oracle Database maintenance with customers. Responsible for all operational aspects of Oracle database systems including performance, integrity, and security. Ensure redundant database systems are properly maintained, and are available for activation if required. Develop DB service operational maturity around security, threat detection, and ransomware protection. Provide expertise towards building out Site Reliability Engineering best practices. Designing, monitoring and reporting towards Service Level objectives. Identify manual or repetitive tasks and automate them. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures/documentation. Share knowledge and mentor junior team members as needed. This role is expected to supervise and mentor student workers. Participate in 24x7 on call support with a weekly rotating schedule, including weekends Qualifications *Please document qualifications on resume Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree plus at least two years of relevant experience, or Master's degree Proven experience in administration of large-scale Oracle databases Exceptional communication; ability to tailor messages to the audience (whether technical or non-technical, individual contributor to executive). Professional experience balancing stakeholder needs across multiple lines of business in a complex environment. Oracle Enterprise Manager configuration and management experience. Experience with database backup and recovery. Strong troubleshooting skills to investigate errors and performance bottlenecks, and implement resolutions with moderate direction. Experience with database patching and upgrades. Preferred Qualifications: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a diverse environment. 2+ years experience working as an Oracle Database Administrator in a 24x7 operational support role. Experience working with Oracle Exadata appliances. Experience with automation tools (A sible, Chef). Experience working with Agile teams. Oracle Database Administration certification.
