UMPhysicians Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Critical Care in Minneapolis, Minnesota

University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner or a Certified Physician Assistant to join our Critical Care service. Practice Details: Provide inpatient care for critically ill patients in a hybrid role between an intensive care unit and as a critical response provider. While working on the MHealth Fairview Critical Care system APP team you will get a variety of experiences.We are actively recruiting for the East Bank SICU and CTICU, with a component of Fairview Southdale ICU. However, there is a potential to float between ICU services (includingMICU and West Bank ICU). There is a strong interdisciplinary culture on all the critical care services whether they are at the teaching hospital or one of the non-teaching services. In either environment you will be working closely with academic Critical Care physicians and an experienced group of Advanced Practice Providers, caring for patients with a diverse range of urgent and emergent needs. Knowledge and critical care skills training, whether learned prior or after hire: Ability to manage complex surgical and cardiothoracic critically ill patients with collaboration from the interdisciplinary team. Knowledge in management of VA-ECMO, VV-ECMO, Impella, IABP, LVAD, and RVAD. Ability to lead Code Blue and Stroke Code Ability to respond to sepsis alerts and treat per protocol Ongoing use of closed loop communication in all things Manage and perform simulation codes for variety of staff and environments. Have strong knowledge of dual diagnosis mental health and medical conditions Willingness to get privileged in relevant procedures Have patience, motivation and determination to provide best critical care possible no matter the environment The PA or NP is an experienced member of the health care team who uses advanced practice skill with thesupervision/collaborationof licensed physicians to provide comprehensive health care services to patients. The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner engages in independent decision making about health care needs and provides health care services to adult individuals throughout their life span. Provides physical and psychological health assessments, patient education and counseling, orders and interprets diagnostic procedures, and manages acute and chronic disease conditions ensuring continuity of care for individuals in the communities served. Primarily 10-12 hour shifts, will be required to work both day (approximately 70%) and night shifts(approximately 30%) Income Details: Market competitive salary Comprehensive benefits package: generous time off, annual CME allowance, malpractice insurance, retirement contributions, & more. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Adult Practitioner training program or a graduate of an accredited Physician's Assistant program. Current MN RN license and be approved or eligible by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges or a current PA license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice. Certified through ANCC/AANP or eligible for ANCC/AANP national exam or through the NCCPA and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Exceptional collaboration abilities Understands and places importance on patient care/service Detail oriented and self-motivated Education focused and a creative problem-solver Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years of experience as an inpatient PA or NP. Hospitalist or Critical Care provider is preferred. New graduates with > 5 years prior inpatient critical care experience as an RN will be considered.
