UMPhysicians MRI Technologist (Multiple Locations) in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Why M Physicians? The Center for Clinical Imaging Research (CCIR) and Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain (MIDB) offer state-of-the-art imaging equipment for clinical and research purposes using PET, CT, and MRI imaging capabilities. MIDB and CCIR are affiliated with the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research within the Department of Radiology. With multiple groups utilizing CCIR for its robust and renowned imaging capabilities, the desired candidate will have a background with effective and efficient planning, communication, and technologist background in MRI. Further, this position will be working among high-field MRI and research subjects. An ideal candidate will have experience working in an outpatient clinical/research setting while being a self-starter and able to make connections with various constituents to ensure effective and efficient communication. MRI Technologist Overview Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Performs magnetic resonance imaging studies as ordered by physician or provider according to approved procedures Schedules patients for MRI exams Ensures proper identification on all images, accurately completes computer functions according to department policies including appropriate edits, status changes, charges, logging, film marking, and storage preparation to ensure proper follow-up Keeps abreast of and implements new improvement developments in field of MRI Communicates and interfaces effectively with clinicians, physicians, radiologists, technologists and patients Minimum Qualifications: AAS degree or equivalent hospital based training program with certificate of completion Registered technologist with ARRT certification as a R.T.(R) If not MRI certified with the ARRT it must be completed within 18 months of hire Knowledge of basic nursing practices related to MRI, including emergency procedures, sterile practices, infection control techniques, and CPR Experience working in an academic or clinical setting Excellent problem solving, communication and critical thinking skills. Strong customer service skills. Adaptability and collaboration Preferred Qualifications: At least 3 years of experience in MRI Ability to work in a high-field MR setting including 7T. Able to scan patients, and research subjects and have knowledge of using Siemens MRI systems.
