Center for Energy and Environment IT Operations Manager in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Description CEE is seeking a strong leader to manage our technical operations team or "TechOps". As the leader of TechOps you will oversee CEE's Systems Administrators (2), Help Desk team (3), and the Technology Adoption Specialist (1). We have a mix of cloud and locally hosted systems. Though primarily a Microsoft Windows shop, we do maintain a fleet of Linux-based applications servers. As the IT Operations Manager you must possess strong leadership skills and have experience managing a technical operations team. This role requires understanding, organizing, prioritizing, and managing the implementation of all relevant aspects of the work performed by the TechOps team. This position guides and oversees implementation of CEE's training and resource portfolio and ensures the integrity of existing information security controls while proactively planning and managing the implementation of new controls as needed to protect our clients' sensitive data. This is a full-time, management-level position that reports to the Director of IT. The preferred candidate is local to the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area, but able to work in a hybrid working environment. Responsibilities: Management Manage the daily operations of TechOps to ensure the functionality, availability, and security of IT systems, data, backups, and communications. Ensure that TechOps has sufficient staff, the necessary support, and an effective structure to handle their duties, effectively and comprehensively, while maintaining high morale and work/life balance. Manage the TechOps team's workload, workflow, priorities, and schedule of accountabilities/outputs Develop, and manage, annual budget for TechOps Develop and maintain IT Service Model operations, standards, and practices. Ensure adequate and updated internal training for TechOps team members Oversee development and implementation of, and lead where appropriate, CEE's training and resource portfolio and deployment ensuring that CEE end users are well informed/trained with updated information, resources, and skills related to systems and security Manage and support team members, including performance assessments Assist in the continuous development of IT staffing plan and professional growth Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continued education, online/in person training and attendance of educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, networking, and participation in professional industry groups Security Partner with CEE's Information Security team to develop, implement, and operationalize security controls Develop, maintain, and document information security procedures and policies Take a lead role managing internal and external security audits Identify and manage IT operational risks Perform Vendor Risk Assessments Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field OR; Six years of relevant professional industry experience AND; Five years of Management experience with IT Infrastructure or IT Business Operations Demonstrated experience with increased responsibility managing an IT infrastructure/operations team including systems administration and IT security Working knowledge of IT concepts including networking, servers/services, virtualization, hardware maintenance, workstation/mobile device management, asset management, and backup/recovery systems Working knowledge of software development practices and processes Experience with Issue tracking/help desk systems Experience with supporting Office 365/Microsoft Online ecosystem Experience with overseeing security audits Excellent time manager able to develop workplans; workflows; and manage teams to develop and meet timelines and outputs Strong problem solving, analytics and research capabilities and ability to handle changing priorities, deal with ambiguity and use good judgment in stressful situations Ability to lead by example and demonstrate integrity, outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills Excellent verbal and written communications skills Desirable: Project Manager Professional (PMP) Certification, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Certification, Microsoft SharePoint Certification or Microsoft 365 Certification Compensation Dependent upon qualifications and experience. the salary range for the position is expected to be between $100-$110K.
