Apply for Job Job ID361835 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyHealth Care Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code8301CL Employee ClassCivil Service Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job About the Job Responsibilities: 50%- Nucleic acid extraction and purification from animal specimens using high-throughput magnetic bead technology with subsequent Real-Time TaqMan PCR set-up for the detection of many animal health pathogens. 20%-Analyze test results using real time software, compile data, and prepare reports for supervisor, pathologists and clients using the LIMS reporting platform. 10%-Read, write, and update Standard Operating Procedures 10%-Operate, maintain and calibrate lab equipment. 5% -Review literature for test improvement purposes 5%-Order and stock supplies and equipment, prepare and optimize reagents. Other duties as assigned by supervisor * This position will train for an indefinite amount of time Monday-Friday. Work hours may be adjusted to meet the laboratories ongoing needs. This position requires occasional overtime, weekend and holiday hours. * Qualifications Required A Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field of science or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years. Preferred Qualifications (preference given to applicants with the following experience): Experience with: nucleic acid extraction (both RNA and DNA), TaqMan PCR and gel electrophoresis Experience handling and processing specimens for diagnostic testing in a BSL2 environment.
