Position Description The Racial Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (REIB) Department was established in 2022 with a purpose of advancing racial equity and inclusivity across the city's enterprise and in the delivery of its services and programs with the long-term goal of shifting decision-making and resource allocation to combat racial and social injustices, to ensure comprehensive wellbeing and advancement of all Minneapolitans, and to achieve a truly equitable future. This is done by developing and adapting a racial and gender equity framework that clearly articulates vision, purpose, and definitions to guide departments in incorporating racial and gender equity principles into their operations, programs, services, and policies. The REIB department works collaboratively with and through all 26 departments and offices in the City of Minneapolis to ensure alignment of their work with the city's racial and gender equity framework, goals, and outcomes. We are looking for someone with strategic planning and public speaking skills, energy, drive, and strong interpersonal skills to be a key team member in the REIB Department. The REIB Department is hiring for one Equity & Inclusion Program Coordinators. The incumbent will help build staff capacity across the organization while assisting in the development, implementation, monitoring, and measurement of the City's racial equity and inclusion efforts, working toward the reduction of racial, gender and place-based disparities within the City of Minneapolis. These positions require extensive proficiency in racial equity tools and frameworks, working with senior and executive leadership, public policy, strategic planning, systems design, project management, communications, and community engagement and relationship building. Equity & Inclusion Program Coordinator - Racial Equity Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Racial Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, you will be responsible for infusing a racial equity, multicultural, and intersectional lens throughout the development, implementation, monitoring, and measurement of all the Racial Equity Inclusion and Belonging Department's, and the City's racial equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts. You will assist senior and executive leaders and staff from multiple departments with identifying potential racial equity priorities, understanding the City's racial equity framework, drafting racial equity impact analysis, supporting the development of racial equity plans, conducting policy research focusing on racial equity impacts, recommending policy changes, and advising senior and executive leadership on the resources, implications, and strategies to advance racial equity in the City of Minneapolis Work Location This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work with some days working remotely and some days working in the office. Office is located in Minneapolis City Hall. Job Duties and Responsibilities Assist the City in developing, communicating and executing enterprise and community plans related to eliminating racial and placed-based disparities. Develop, monitor and measure equity and inclusion performance measures including benchmarking and best practice studies. Assess the need for new equity-related policies and ordinances and/or changes to official City documents. Draft these and provide staffing assistance to assure passage and implementation by appropriate decision-makers. Provide leadership in development and delivery of outreach, community events, educational programs and materials. Manage and work collaboratively with drafting the project scope, scheduling meetings, completing tasks, facilitating meetings, garnering consensus on recommendations, and preparing reports/presentations. Prepare and make presentations to groups, residents, and elected officials.? Act as a liaison to crea e policies, promote equity and participate in community-wide equity projects. Provide training and support for City staff and elected officials on equity related issues. Oversee the collection and organization of information for reports, case studies, and other documentation related to the project or program assigned. Establish and build relationships with a broad set of stakeholders, within the City and including non-profit, private, and public sector organizations working toward elimination of racial and place-based disparities. Use proven and innovative methodologies to engage the community in development of plans and actions to address racial and place-based disparities. WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office Setting Required Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent Minimum Experience Five years of experience in a position performing related duties Equivalency An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered. Selection Process The selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience and/or an oral examination (100%). Only those candidates who attain a passing score (70%) on each step in the selection process will be placed on the eligible list. Background Check The City has determined that a criminal background check and/or qualifications check may be necessary for certain positions with this job title. Union Representation This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement between the City of Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Professional Employees Association (MPEA). Eligible List Statement The names of applicants who meet minimum qualification and who pass the screening process shall be placed on the eligible list for employment consideration. This list will be certified to the hiring manager who may use the list to fill a vacancy of the same job title. This eligible list will expire two months after it has been established. Interview Selection The hiring authority reserves the right to determine the maximum number of candidates to interview from the established eligible list. If the hiring authority decides to interview other than by exam score order, they may select additional people to interview based on a candidate's education or experience related to the field, work history, or skills uniquely related to the operational needs of the position.
