Fairview Health Services Director Pediatric Heart Program in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Overview

Actively manages the clinical operations of the Pediatric Heart Center. The director incumbent is responsible for directing, facilitating, and participating in the coordination of inpatient/outpatient/ancillary services and activities to ensure safe and quality patient care. Manages performance to improve quality of patient care and service as well as employee and provider engagement. Develops and manages the department budget, assuring efficient and effective patient care operations. Provides leadership and clinical direction for the Heart Center Advanced Practice team. Actively coaches and engages all staff and management while modeling expected behaviors and holding staff accountable.

Responsibilities Job Description

  • Exercises independent judgement to develop and operate the Pediatric Heart Center with best practices.

  • Accountable for day-to-day operation and related staff management.

  • Manages Performance Improvement initiatives, including patient experience, cost/case, reducing variation in practice, and other quality improvement initiatives.

  • Serves as focal point for service line analysis including budget variances, progress vs. plans\pro-forma’s, operating trends etc.

  • Partners with dyad physicians to achieve results in line with the UMMCH and the Pediatric Heart Center vision and mission

  • Directs clinical operations and professional development of the Heart Center Advanced Practice Providers

  • Provides support to Growth and Strategy partner for the development and implementation of the strategic plan for the Pediatric Heart Center at UMMCH.

  • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.

Qualifications

Required

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business or a related field.

Experience

  • 5 or more years of leadership experience in a complex organization including project management, collaborative decision-making, knowledge of healthcare and process skills. Experience leading physicians or multi-disciplinary teams to achieve desired outcomes.

Preferred

Education

  • MBA, MHA or other relevant Master’s degree.

Experience

  • Experience in academic medical setting. Pediatric Heart clinical background/knowledge.
