Job ID360038 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilyStudent Services Full/Part TimeFull-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code9363RL Employee ClassAcad Prof and Admin About the Job Position Description This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing a comprehensive student development program for approximately 7500 students in nine residence halls and four student apartment complexes. The Assistant Director directly supervises two mid-level coordinators who are responsible for the direct supervision of 11 Residence Directors and indirect supervision of 7 Assistant Residence Directors. The Assistant Director is also responsible for overseeing all professional live-in residential life staff and student staff hiring, training, and performance review processes. This position reports to the Associate Director of Residential Life. Responsibilities for this position include the following: Student Development Program Management (40%) * Develop and implement a comprehensive student development strategic plan and annual work plan that includes goals and new initiatives. * Direct, lead and coordinate implementation of the Residential Curriculum development model (SLICES of Belonging) in all residence halls/apartments and develop and implement a comprehensive assessment plan for the Residential Curriculum model. * Lead the Residential Life Curriculum Committee. * Coordinate the Residential Life special assignment and committee process. * Develop, oversee and monitor the annual student development programs budget. * Evaluate the effectiveness of all student development programs and initiatives and recommend changes and improvement opportunities. * Collaborate with Residential Life Management Team members to ensure curriculum and student development aspects align across job functions and are clearly implemented with the building professional and student staff. * Work closely with , OTE, CAPE, Office of Equity and Diversity including MCAE, the Aurora Center, Admissions, Orientation and First Year Programs, The Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence (MCAE), GSC,, Financial Aid, Student Employment, M Food Co and other offices on-campus impacting the residential life program. Supervision/Staffing (40%) * Hire, supervise, train and evaluate two Coordinators of Residential Life. * Indirectly supervise and coach 11 Residence Directors and 7 Assistant Residence Directors. * Direct and oversee the recruitment, hiring, training and evaluation process for all Residence Directors and Assistant Residence Directors. * Direct and oversee recruitment, hiring, training and evaluation process for all Residential Life student staff positions. * Direct and lead staff meetings and assist with coordinating the Residential Life Management Team meeting. * Develop and coordinate the updating of training materials and communication publications for all Residential Life position postings in Residential Life including Coordinators, Residence Directors, Assistant Residence Directors, Community Advisors, and Community Engagement Interns * Develop strategies to recruit and hire a diverse Residential Life staff, including professional staff and all student staff. * Lead and facilitate the Community Advisor Advisory Board (or equivalent methods to receive student staff feedback) * Identify and implement professional development activities for direct reports, Residence Directors and Assistant Residence Directors. * Coordinate all professional development travel for Residential Life staff including travel approvals, expense reports, and budget planning. * Work with facilities to ensure staff apartments are well maintained and coordinate purchasing of furniture for staff apartments. Administration (20%) * Develop a three-year strategic plan and annual work plan for the Residential Life student development program. * Assist with development of the annual Residential Life strategic plan/work plan and Residential Life budget. * Support the business and adm nistrative functions of hall/apartment business offices. * Develop and monitor Residential Life operating budgets. * Meet regularly with Residential Dining to provide feedback about the residential dining program. * Participate as a member of Housing & Residential Life's Senior Leadership Team. * Participate in Housing & Residential Life and University-wide committees and programs. * Work collaboratively with the Associate and Assistant Directors of Housing & Residential Life to ensure proper communication between all organizational areas. * Serve in an on-call duty rotation with other central Residential Life managers. * Write quarterly reports and year-end annual reports for areas of responsibility. * Respond to concerns about Residential Life from students, parents, faculty and staff. Work Environment: Work is performed mainly in an office setting. Salary Range: $94,000-$97,000 Qualifications Minimum Qualifications * Master's degree in College Student Personnel or related field in higher education plus five years of relevant experience or BA/BS degree plus ten years of relevant experience or required. Preferred Qualifications * Five years in a mid-level to senior level position in a university/college housing department. * Two years previous experience supervising full time live-in staff is preferred. * Experience developing and implementing successful comprehensive student development programs/initiatives at the departmental level.
