Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, Coaching (60%) Assist head coach in all aspects of developing and maintaining a competitive intercollegiate sport program within the NCAA and Big Ten Conference. Instruct and develop high level student-athletes in fundamentals of softball, coaching technique and strategy. Assist with practice planning and game preparation including evaluation of opponents. Perform administrative responsibilities, including assisting in the management of scheduling team travel and planning and executing weekly team events. Assist in monitoring the academic performance of student-athletes to help them achieve full potential. Recruiting (20%) Under the direction of the head coach assist in identifying, evaluating, and the recruitment of qualified student athletes.Evaluate and recruit qualified student-athletes to the University of Minnesota whose athletic skills make them highly competitive in the Big Ten and whose academic abilities make them good candidates for a meaningful academic experience and graduation from the University of Minnesota. Athletic Relationships (15%) Establish and maintain effective relationships within the athletics department, the University community, alumni,media and the general public. Represent in a positive fashion the University and its athletic programs in private and public forums. Commit to adhering to all policies, procedures and regulations of the Department, the University, the Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA. Assist in advancing the department's mission, vision, and strategic plan including its commitment to equity and diversity. This position will contribute to and enhance a positive learning environment, competitive athletic experience, and atmosphere conducive to the welfare and academic support of the student athlete. Other (5%) Other duties as assigned by the Head Softball coach Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree Solid work ethic along with strongmotivational, coaching, teaching and communication skills. Theability to travel extensively during the recruiting process. Prior softball coaching experience or playing experience, preferably at the intercollegiate Division 1 level. Extensive knowledgeof the sport of softball. Knowledge and experience workingwith NCAA rules and regulations. Knowledge and experience with data analysis in softball - (synergy, Trackman, Rapsodo, Flight scope) Candidates are expected to becommitted to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body.
