Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Biomedical Technician I- Clinical Engineering- Full Time, Day. In this role, the successful candidate Under close supervision, installs inspects, calibrates, and performs preventive maintenance on General Biomedical -electrical, electronic, and pneumatic patient care, diagnostic, monitoring, and therapeutic instrumentation throughout the Medical Center. Troubleshoots and repairs, a variety of instruments such as Infusion, Syringe, Enteral, PCA Pumps, SCDs, Pacemakers, Telemetry, Multi-parameter patient Monitors, Central Station Monitoring, Hypothermia Units, Lab equipment, etc. General Care Areas include but is not limited to Central Services, Labs, Physical/Occupational Therapy, and Dialysis

Job Responsibilities:

Carries out minor repairs of patient medical equipment, accessories, and cables in the MedicalCenter efficiently. Troubleshoots minor problems in medical equipment and renders equipmentfunctional, fixing or replacing appropriate components or circuit boards based on the problem;may be required to provide service at the point of use. Services and repairs cables, transducers,and accessories. Verifies proper operation of all device functions prior to returning the device toservice. Have the user department staff verify the current operation if the service was renderedat the point of use. Records all work done on appropriate forms. Informs and consults with theDirector on unusual problems or specific hazards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Attends all required work-related training.
Install medical equipment in coordination with the user and Facilities Managementdepartments. Assists other CE technicians in the installation of new patient systems. Assist inthe reinstallation of equipment in other areas or carts as determined by the user department's
needs. Performs incoming inspection on general patient care equipment with (at minimum) anelectrical safety check and/or a full acceptance and performance check. Performs electrical andfunctional safety checks on all incoming patient care equipment before it is used. Performs
functional tests and checks the calibrations on new patient monitors, SCDs, infusion devices,feeding pumps, suction regulators, etc., on a regular basis. Re-inspect equipment for electricalsafety checks at intervals prescribed by departmental policy following repairs. Keeps abreast of new developments in the field of medical instrumentation and is aware of clinical applications ofequipment and how it is used on patients. Attends all required work-related training.
Determines whether equipment is covered by warranty or service contract when repairs areneeded. Notifies the Operations Manager of equipment under warranty or contract by providingthe manufacturer, model, serial number, and the description of the problem with the
equipment.
Performs preventative maintenance (PM) and calibration on the above-mentioned equipment atintervals prescribed by manufacturers' and departmental policies. Locates equipment that is duefor PM, performs functional testing and calibration, and works on fixed equipment, such aspatient monitors in the room where it is installed. Bring mobile equipment back to the shop forinspection. Affixes appropriate tags, labels, and/or stickers to new equipment, ensuringequipment is also appropriately tagged.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering/Technology
A minimum of 1 years of medical equipment repair experience
Equivalent combination of related education and experience.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $74,224.11 - $93,307.59 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
