JOB REQUIREMENTS: PRIMARY FUNCTIONS * Hires, trains, manages and develops qualified partners to effectively carry out department functions, provide excellent customer service and provide for the continuity of managerial and specialized skills. * Leads all conference and event planning and delivery to ensure quality, timely and cost-effective events that satisfy customers. * Participates in the development of the overall educational strategy of the society. * For all conferences and events, manages site selection, hotel coordination, meeting room setup, audiovisual requirements, security, temporary help, schedules, materials and supplies, manuals and proceedings. Assists internal workgroups, Society boards, and committees with site and facility selection, and meeting planning services. * Reviews and negotiates contracts for all conferences and events, including all event suppliers. * Establishes and maintains relationships with ASQ suppliers and division member leaders who contract with the Event Management Workgroup for services relative to all conferences and events. * Serves as primary liaison between ASQ's Event Management workgroup and third-party event planning vendors. * Assures continuously improving customer key contributor and key partner satisfaction ratings for conference and event delivery. * All other duties as assigned. CMP (Certified Meeting Planner Certification) strongly preferred. Experience A minimum of 7-10 years progressive experience in association, hotel or meeting planning; 1 year of people management.
