Job Title: Quality Control Manager

Job Description

Manage and train Quality Control Technicians responsible for performing all quality/laboratory testing as well as adjusting batches to meet specifications. Collaborate with formulators to correct any out-of-spec products and enter lab work requests to update formulas for better future batches. Perform root cause investigations on out-of-spec batches and work as a team player with Production and R&D to resolve issues and prevent recurrences. Investigate customer complaints/issues with the respective teams and report findings along with next steps to resolve issues. Maintain all quality data, investigations, etc. into the Quality System & ERP system. Maintain all quality documentation such as certificates of analysis, recertification records, and others as requested. Responsible for verification and cleanliness of QC laboratory equipment and follow 6S program requirements. Ensure that processes needed for the QMS are established, implemented, and maintained. Lead audits and provide support in the maintenance of third-party accreditations. Ensure compliance with the quality ISO9001/AS9100 standards in the QC lab. Participate in internal quality system audits across the facility and record non-conformances and support evaluation of audit findings and facilitate appropriate corrective actions with department heads. Interact with plant associates in implementing quality policies and procedures and train as necessary to increase quality awareness. Physically perform quality testing and perform hands-on quality processes when needed. Help maintain safety throughout the operation and take necessary action when safety or quality metrics are not adhered to. Assist with the removal of hazardous waste when needed and ensure compliance with all EHS processes and protocols. Interview, hire and terminate employees, as necessary along with conduct performance reviews on a semi-annual basis.

Responsibilities

Essential Skills

  • Experience in quality control in paint, coatings, polymers, or chemical manufacturing.

  • Experience in root cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Ability to lead and mentor a team of QC Laboratory Technicians.

  • Knowledge of ISO9001/AS9100 standards.

  • Experience in internal and external audits.

  • Proficiency in maintaining quality documentation and data systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in paint or coating manufacturing.

  • Skills in color matching.

  • Familiarity with batch adjustments.

  • Experience in implementing corrective action plans.

Work Environment

This role involves working in the Quality office, Quality Lab, and interacting with R&D and Production areas to ensure product quality and correct processes. The schedule is 1st shift, Monday through Friday. The candidate will manage the Quality Team and interact with units within the company including Production, R&D, Sales, and also with Customers and Auditors as necessary.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $120000.00
