Microsoft Corporation Mechanical Project Manager in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

As a Microsoft Mechanical Project Manager you will be responsible for the mechanical process delivery for the site location. This role is responsible for delivering the program safely, on schedule, on or under budget with a high-level of quality. The Mechanical Project Manager is responsible for ensuring the mechanical portion of the project meets Microsoft guidelines and standards, which may be adjusted from time-to-time based on best practices and lessons learned drawn from previous projects as well as industry changing best practice.

You will coordinate with the Data Center Engineering (DCE) team and support specialty consultants to update and provide feedback based on Design. You will support the delivery of projects, this position aligns team objectives, business processes, General Contractor (GC) and vendor management strategies, and cross-group collaboration efforts with the Design Cost Data (DCD) project strategy. This will result in effective customer relationship management and efficiency in cost management and project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Effective interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, ability to self-direct, strong background in data center design, engineering, controls, and operational requirements and an emphasis on project/construction management with a focus on the mechanical process.

  • Responsible for the mechanical process delivery for the site location.

  • Delivering the program safely, on schedule, on or under budget with a high-level of quality.

  • Ensure the mechanical portion of the project meets Microsoft guidelines and standards, which may be adjusted from time-to-time based on best practices and lessons learned drawn from previous projects as well as industry changing best practice.

  • Coordinate with the Data Center Engineering (DCE) team and support specialty consultants to update and provide feedback based on Design. In supporting the delivery of projects, this position aligns team objectives, business processes, General Contractor (GC) and vendor management strategies, and cross-group collaboration efforts with the DCD project strategy.

  • An effective advocate for managing a safe site.

  • Collaborate with Microsoft Project Engineering, BAS Project Manager, GC Project Controls, the Engineer of Record, and other internal groups to maintain the safe corporate vision and performance goals for the project.

  • Ccoordinate activities on the Mechanical Systems portion of datacenter development.

  • Monitoring the status of a project's mechanical side to ensure it stays on schedule and on budget.

  • Ensure the project complies with all safety, labor, and zoning regulations. You will handle administrative duties such as budgeting and managing agreements with subcontractors and ensure that all mechanical process activities are executed in accordance with project drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development.

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team project.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
