TEKsystems ISP Technician 2 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Job Title: ISP Technician - 2

Summary: The ISP Technician - 2 is responsible for on-site installation of voice, data, fiber optic cable systems, security, CCTV, and paging. Reporting to the Low Voltage Services Director, this role involves following proper procedures during installations and effective communication with customers regarding job progress.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and prepare pathways and supports for new cabling system installations.

  • Pull copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cables in backbone, horizontal, and riser environments.

  • Terminate various brands of voice and data jacks (e.g., Hellerman-Tyton, Molex, Signamax, Panduit) on patch panels.

  • Cross-connect voice cables on 66 or 110 blocks.

  • Terminate single-mode (SM) and multi-mode (MM) fiber optic cables using various methods (crimp-lock, adhesives, Unicams, fusion splicing) and connector types (SC, LC, ST, etc.).

  • Test high-count feeder cables for voice riser applications.

  • Troubleshoot copper cable installations.

  • Assist with fiber optic cable testing using equipment such as power meters, OTDR testers, and voltage meters.

  • Build out data closets by installing ladder racks, cable trays, data racks, and rack-mount equipment.

  • Read blueprints and identify cabling pathways while maintaining compliance with construction project specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in blueprint reading.

  • Experience with racking and station work.

  • Familiarity with termination of cabling.

  • Knowledge of data closets and termination testing.

  • Ability to use test equipment (e.g., Fluke) for fiber optic cable testing.
