How you will help us create value together:
As aMechanical Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for a range of support activities for the Blasthole Drill Engineering Team. This team is expanding our drill product offering while supporting the existing fleet of drills to provide best-in-class products and service to our mining and quarry customers.
Thisonsiteposition will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee’s Harbor District. The target start date for this role is Summer 2025. We offer full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during academic semesters.
Key Job Responsibilities
Create, revise, and maintain high integrity models, assemblies, and drawings in SolidWorks
Collaborate with engineering new product development team to expand and improve industry-leading drill tool handling solutions
Organize and effectively communicate engineering calculations and decisions to other members of the business
Maintain a database of part drawings, and develop design standards based on the parts in this database
Write test plans, analyze test data, and write test reports for drill tools and drill tool handling systems
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or similar, from an accredited college or university
Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or master’s level student in good academic standing
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team towards a long-term goal
Excellent organization and personal time management skills, ability to handle multiple tasks
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Possess effective problem solving and critical thinking skills; ability to be creative and resourceful when needed
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency using CAD Software, preferably SolidWorks
Previous classroom and/or work experience relating to materials, materials selection, or material properties, especially different types of steel
Previous classroom and/or work experience relating to welding and welded structures
Interest in mining, drilling, and/or heavy equipment manufacturing industries
