MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY Custodian in MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Overview Reporting to the Service Manager or Building Supervisor, the Custodian is responsible for cleaning assigned areas of buildings as part of maintaining a clean, healthy and safe environment for students, faculty and staff. This role may also act as a lead person to assigned custodial staff. The Custodian also performs duties as a project crew member consisting of floor stripping/scrubbing and refinishing. Carpet shampooing and floor buffing may also be assigned. Duties and Responsibilities Provide collection and disposal services for wastepaper, trash and debris and recyclable materials Vacuum carpeting, dry sweep, dust mop and damp mopping of hard surfaced floors Clean and sanitize washroom/shower room fixtures Dust, damp wipe, wash and polish furniture and fixtures using a ladder up to 6 feet tall and at times using scaffolds Use scrubbers, buffing and shampooing equipment Make beds and set up occupant rooms Move furniture when required Clean kitchen floors according to Health Department standards, as required Shovel snow and spread ice melting compounds EOE Statement It is the policy of Marquette University to provide equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or any other applicable federal or state-protected classification. ***** OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to demonstrate both reading and writing comprehension and competency skills High School diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of 6 months of cleaning experience Ability to use manual and automatic scrubbers, buffers and shampooing equipment Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Previous cleaning experience of at least one year in an academic or health care environment Valid driver\'s license with a satisfactory driving record Ability to lead other custodians in assigned tasks ***** APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Apply Online: https://employment.marquette.edu/postings/20891 Qualified females, minorities, and special disabled veterans and other veterans are encouraged to apply.
