JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Overview The Assistant Dean, Graduate Programs oversees all graduate nursing programs, graduate support systems, and graduate students to ensure a strong academic experience for graduate students. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Student Services and Support Works with the graduate student staff to coordinate college graduate student recruitment activities. Oversees admission and progression decisions for MSN, DNP, and PhD programs in conjunction with the Program Director and Graduate School. Provides oversight of graduate student records; academic and clinical documentation; health and HIPAA requirements (CastleBranch); and clinical placements. Collaborates with the graduate school student recruiter and college graduate student advisor on recruitment to graduate program. Oversees advisement of all graduate students. Participates in the orientation of new graduate students. Reviews and revises graduate bulletin copy and college graduate student handbook. 2. Faculty Assignments, Coordination, and Oversight Coordinates graduate course scheduling and faculty assignments. Participates in hiring, orienting, and evaluating part-time faculty for graduate programs. Provides leadership for option coordinators and program directors. Conducts part-time faculty evaluations for graduate courses. Supports orientation of faculty in collaboration with administrative team Monitors faculty compliance in Castle Branch. Assigns faculty to teach graduate courses in concert with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Program. 3. Program Oversight Plans and oversees regular program development, implementation, and evaluations; synthesizes data for use in periodic program reviews, policy formulation, and strategic planning. Initiates and supports proposals to enhance graduate education at Marquette University. 4. Curriculum Supports graduate programs development in coordination with GPCC including the traditional MSN program, MSN options, the direct entry MSN program, and Doctor of Nursing Practice. Directs continuous quality improvement of graduate program, using data from a variety of sources. Maintains quality in light of standards: (Examples: CCNE and NONPF). Keeps current on graduate practice and program trends as well as accreditation and certification standards. Provides distance-learning oversight. 5. University, College, and Professional Relations Acts as College liaison to the Graduate School and University Board of Graduate Studies Supervises College program assistant for graduate programs. Member Administrative Team, Executive Committee, GPCC, Program Directors Committee. Acts as liaison to SEWNA, ANEW, AACN, NONPF, and other nursing/community entities in conjunction with the Dean, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, and Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Programs. 6. General Oversight Administers and manages all responsibilities granted to or required of the Graduate School. Interprets policies, implements procedures, and ensures compliance with university and external agencies\' policies, regulations, and laws. Recommends, implements, and/or resolves operational policies as needed. Represents academic issues to the Dean of the College of Nursing, Graduate School Dean, and the Provost. 7. Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. Valid nursing license is required. A minimum of five years of elated experience. Understanding of national standards, regulations, certification requirements, and accreditation requirements in graduate nursing required. Ability to connect with and support students. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong management skills. Ability to work collegially and collaboratively as well as independently, to work well under pressure, and to balance competing responsibilities. Ability to work effectively with a diverse array of constituencies, including students, alumni, faculty, administrators, and employers. Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Administrative experience in nursing education and/or health care systems. Experience in graduate nursing educational programming and teaching, as well as student affairs or academic success at the graduate/professional school level is strongly preferred.
