Summary
We are looking for an early childhood teacher who is fun, nurturing, ambitious, has attention to detail, is organized and works well with others. We need someone who is high energy, and excited to co-own with their lead teacher the responsibility for daily classroom operations for 8-10 children, depending on the classroom, ages 0-5 years old.
Assistant Teacher\'s are responsible for the daily classroom operation of the Infant, Toddler, or Preschool Classroom as assigned, including providing high quality care and education for up to 8 children daily in alignment with licensing ratio requirements - ages 6 weeks to approximately 5 years old- and maintaining positive collaborations with families, coworkers, service providers, and community partners.
Our current opening is in our infant room, with children 6 weeks to 2 years old.
Duties
High-quality classroom management within MFCCs Early Childhood Program
- Ensure the assigned MFCC Classroom meets or exceeds VT licensing regulations and the NAEYC criteria for accreditation, including:
- Record keeping
- Health and safety
- Classroom environment
- Curriculum
- Emergency Response Planning
- Work with Early Childcare Program Director and Lead Teacher to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curricula based on NAEYC program guidelines.
- Ensure daily paperwork for the Child and Adult Care Food Program is up to date.
- Assess each child using the Teaching Strategies Gold online profile.
- Initiate, direct, and facilitate activities with children to aid in nurturing, relationship building, and which provide a wide variety of sensory experiences to children.
- Utilize scheduled office and planning time appropriately for the purpose of curriculum planning, complete necessary program or professional development paperwork and documentation, or other required administrative duties as assigned by the MFCC Child Care Director.
- Collaborate with other Teachers and ECP Director regarding enrollment and waitlist.
- Engage in and complete every year, from the date of initial hire, the minimum annual professional development training hours, and submit appropriate documentation via BFIS, as required by VT licensing regulations and NAEYC requirements.
- Maintain certification in First Aid and CPR for infants/children.
Family support & community development
- Drive positive organizational culture alongside fellow MFCC team members. Learn and model the MFCC Policies and Procedures. Create a positive work environment for all staff by role modeling positive and effective communication, and promoting the Strengthening Families framework for working with children and families.

- Attend MFCC all-staff meetings and activities
- Participate in all scheduled direct supervision and team meetings.
- Assist with other MFCC programs and community efforts to increase community and parental resilience.
- Establish a positive rapport with parents/guardians and act as an advocate/facilitator for families by sharing information and referrals that may benefit the child or family.
- Communicate with:
- ECP Director- regarding any concerns, issues, or questions of staff, parents, and collaborating partners;
- Parents - regarding daily activities and schedule; special events; meals; and child specific information including behavior and well-being
- Staff- regarding curriculum ideas, thoughts, or concerns; daily responsibilities
- Collaborative partners- regarding students with special needs
