We are looking for an enthusiastic Systems Engineering Student to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Accelera Business Segment in Milton Keynes. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

This role is available to candidates who qualify for a placement year and will commence 4 th August 2025.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Assist with defining and demonstrating the technical capabilities of Accelera products in a fast moving and emerging industry.

  • Work within the Battery Development Team, part of Accelera by Cummins, as part of the Systems Engineering team.

  • Be an active part of the battery engineering team, involved in systems engineering for high voltage battery pack designs for a range of on and off-highway applications.

  • The role includes requirements capture, validation test planning, performing tests, test reporting, data analysis and failure analysis.

  • The student will be expected to interact with the larger engineering team as well as working with external test houses.

  • You will design and execute performance, mechanical and abuse testing of batteries using both internal and third-party resources.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Studying a STEM degree, preferably studying for a technical degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Keen interest in product development of complex systems and with an interest in electrification and zero emission powertrains.

  • Good MS office skills required, with experience managing data sets and in data analysis software (LabView, UniPlot etc.)

  • Able to effectively present complex ideas and has an eye to detail and good communicate to cascading information.
