DESCRIPTION OF WORK You will assist the foresters in technical forestry duties and support the districts resource and recreation management activities.  Additionally, you will assist in forest protection efforts to promote forest stewardship and wise utilization of the forest resource and assist in the protection and management of native flora.

In this position, you will obtain timber volumes through marking and/or cruising. You will also survey and mark timber sale boundaries, herbicide spray blocks, and planting sites using GPS technology. You will also create maps for approval by the Forester and enter data into the appropriate database. Duties will also include leading a crew for various projects planned by the Foresters, such as deer fence construction, tree planting, timber marking, seed collection, wildlife habitat management, herbicide application, and prescribed burns. You will maintain a database of timber sale operators and herbicide records, operate and maintain hand and power tools, and collect field information for various purposes as directed by the foresters.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

This is a seasonal, full-time position without benefits. The season runs from approximately March until November at which time the employee is placed on leave without pay. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Weekends, holidays and all shifts as needed; 37.5 hours/week - 7-day operation.

This position requires occasional overtime and travel.
