Description
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Accounting to oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations for our growing 50+ location health and wellness, dermatology/ spa business. The Director of Accounting will lead a small team of three accounting professionals, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance, and accounting processes. The role requires a proactive and detail-oriented leader who will collaborate with the Controller and other departments to drive financial integrity and efficiency across our business.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
Supervise, mentor, and provide guidance to the accounting team, ensuring a high level of performance, accuracy, and adherence to deadlines.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide insights and recommendations to management to support business decisions.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Accounting Operations:
Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Manage cash flow projections and prepare bank reconciliations.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
Ensure adherence to accounting principles, policies, and internal controls to maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and tax laws.
Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and tax filings.
Stay updated on changes in tax regulations, accounting standards, and industry best practices.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline accounting workflows.
Lead the implementation of new accounting software or system updates as needed.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with the Controller, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and drive business strategy.
Support business growth by ensuring financial processes are scalable and aligned with company objectives.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
7-10+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Public accounting (audit) experience strongly preferred.
Proven experience in accounting within a multi-location, service-based business.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
