We have an immediate need for a Manager, Environmental Health and Safety to join our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Team. In this role, you will be responsible in the development of the EHS team, to develop strategic EHS strategies and to ensure compliance with applicable Provincial and Federal regulatory requirements, standards, codes, guidelines and provide appropriate guidance. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leading an EHS team including performance planning, employee development and mentoring

  • Provide leadership and direction to senior management on issues relating to EHS

  • Creating and fostering a positive culture towards EHS within all levels of an organization carrying out EHS audits, report development and supporting site initiatives

  • Preparation and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable legislation

  • Leading the Internal Responsibility System within the site and identify/implement actions for continual improvement

  • Supports the site in the formulation and achievement of its annual EHS objectives and targets

  • Conduct gap analysis and implementation plans

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or other technical discipline or a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant working experience combined with related training and education

  • Minimum of 3 years of Health & Safety Environmental experience preferably at a Manager level

  • Experience leading an EHS program in a manufacturing environment required

  • Enrolment in or completion of the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation would be an asset

  • Well versed in the understanding and application of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable Regulations

  • Valid certification at Management level for Joint H&S Committee

  • Experience with emergency response (First Aid and CPR an asset)

  • Strong ability to collaborate using a solution-oriented mindset

  • Ability to multi task, prioritize and work to tight deadlines for multiple stakeholders

  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Strong facilitation/instructor skills

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Proven ability to solve technical problems and make sound decisions

  • Highly motivated with a demonstrated positive attitude

  • Willingness to learn and acquire knowledge/understanding through study, instruction or experience

    The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal reference check and obtain/maintain a Government of Canada security clearance and any applicable clearances with respect to the handling and transfer of controlled goods.
