Michigan Operations Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance Lead Examiner and Authorized Inspector

Job Description:

The DuPont Michigan Operations site has an opening for a Lead Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance (MIQA) Examiner and Authorized Inspector. This role will provide support across multiple sites in Midland and the surrounding area to support inspection and repair work as it is related to fixed equipment which includes working within mechanical integrity and quality assurance (MIQA) systems.

Job Scope:

Assist sites by:

  • Participating in development of inspection and test plans for plant equipment.

  • Inspecting/examining equipment per applicable RAGAGEPs, documenting and transmitting inspection results, and making recommendations as appropriate for repair/upgrade/retirement of equipment.

  • Managing inspection data in systems such as GE APM® and SAP®.

  • Defining and approving repairs to in-service equipment, per RAGAGEPs. This may include auditing and evaluation of contracted repair organizations, and inspection of repair work.

  • Participating in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and incident investigations related to equipment failures.

  • Directing and coordinating the work of contract inspectors/examiners as needed, including auditing and evaluation.

  • Where applicable, working with jurisdictional inspectors to ensure local requirements are met.

  • Managing inspection and repair documentation, potentially including NDE procedures, welding procedures, inspections reports, and inspection plans.

  • Supporting the implementation of DuPont’s Mechanical Integrity/Quality Assurance requirements.

Minimum Job Requirements:

This individual must have a good working knowledge of equipment inspection systems and practices, including data management. The desired candidate must have the organizational capability to work in multiple sites, prioritize activities, and be able to communicate effectively with operators, mechanics, engineers, and leadership. They must maintain connections with internal networks and external organizations to maintain current knowledge in the inspection field. In addition:

  • 5+ years of work experience in the fabrication, inspection, and/or repair of petrochemical plant equipment

  • API 510, 570 and 653 certifications required

  • ASNT level II certifications in VT, UT, PT, MT, RT (film)

  • Knowledge of applicable RAGAGEPs including ASME, API, ASTM

  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM)

  • Working knowledge of inspection and equipment management software such as SAP® and GE APM ®

  • Working knowledge of welding, fabrication/repair techniques, and damage mechanisms which includes corrosion.

  • Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software

Additional Job Information:

  • Regional travel involved within the Midland area.

  • Position is located within DuPont Michigan Operations.
