TE Connectivity in Middletown, PA is looking for a Manager, R&D/Product Development Engineering to play a pivotal role in leading the design and analysis team supporting ruggedized connector products and related accessories for the harsh environments found in aerospace and defense applications. Have a heavy emphasis on customer interaction and customer support. Be on the front end of new programs and future technologies to drive customer engagement with TE. Lead a team that develops product concepts that range from miniature connectors, high speed signal connectors, and high amperage power connectors. Utilize 3D printing and other additive manufacturing technologies to create concepts and deliver prototypes to customers. Emphasize using digital tools like ANSYS and 3D modeling to create concepts and simulate product performance before the manufacturing and validation testing of product. Using product technology roadmaps from the business office, customer specifications, and robust VoC (voice of the customer), work in a multidisciplinary project team to develop a plan for each product/project and execute the strategy for product development to help grow the AD&M business. Telecommuting permitted.

Requirements :Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent), plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or in a related occupation.

Special Requirements : Requires 5 years of experience with the following:

  1. 3D Solid Modeling (direct or parametric).

  2. Simulation/analysis tools (FEA, Moldflow, CFD).

  3. Designing product for Additive Manufacturing/Rapid Prototyping technologies.

  4. Designing product for different manufacturing processes, materials, and quality assurance protocols.

  5. Product Engineering experience (sustaining) working with quality, manufacturing, operations, suppliers, and directly with customers.

  6. Print Reading and Creation.

  7. Tolerance analysis and geometric dimensioning and tolerance knowledge.

  8. MRP system knowledge and experience working in a production manufacturing location.

Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.
