We are always looking for talented and motivated individuals to join our team.Position Title: CollectorDepartment: Collections Classification: Non ExemptApproved By: VP of LendingSalary Range: $23.57 - $29.46 per hour depending on experience.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPSPosition Reports To: Collections ManagerPositions Supervised: NonePOSITION PURPOSEResponsible for the control and follow up of delinquent loan accounts by making contact with members and maintaining accurate records on delinquent loan accounts. The Collector is responsible for administrative and financial work of managing of accounts and other finical records, collection of all receivables, associated transactions, receipts and expenditures; all other related work as required. Accountable for regulatory compliance and supporting the credit unions mission and Great Worthy Cause.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESContact distressed members to determine the extent of their hardship and their ability to pay the account currently and in the foreseeable future.Counsels members on available alternatives to eliminate the delinquency to include hardship, settlements and other programs.Negotiates appropriate short term payment arrangements.Provides status updates to members.Places outbound calls, as well as receive inbound calls.Identify, evaluate, and resolve reasons for delinquency.Record all collection efforts via the collection system insuring that all accounts are called and noted accurately.Conduct research, ordering payment copies, credit bureau reports, statements, and credit applications as necessary, to support the collection efforts.Review with management and the Senior Collector, accounts where actions beyond routine collection procedures are required.Escalate calls and/or problem accounts to Management, repossession, legal or collection agencies as appropriate.Recommend all accounts that are to be written off as un-collectable and prepare report.Perform responsibilities of position in accordance with federal and state regulations, credit union policies and procedures.Cross-sell credit union products and services as appropriate.Acts as a backup to the assistant collector in their absence. Attending to all associated clerical and administrative work.Recommend changes to improve workflow, efficiencies and quality.Provide the ability for Growth and Development.Meet Core Comp Requirements.Performs additional duties as assigned.PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTSPerformance is measured against the goals as outlined by the position established by the Management.RequirementsQUALIFICATIONSEducation/Certification:Some college preferred plus two to three years of experience in collections; or a comparable combination of education and experience.Required Knowledge:Knowledge of collection process, applicable regulations, and good communication skills.This position requires that the employee gain a working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) requirements and how they will affect their work. The employee will comply with all requirements of the BSA and cooperate with the designated BSA Officer in assuring compliance.Experience Required:Experience using P.C. based software including Microsoft Word and Excel.Skills/Abilities:Ability to project a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.This role requires working on alternate Saturdays with a flex day to support the team's objectives.Bilingual a plus.Employment at our Credit Union is based upon merit, ability, and qualifications.
