We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to join and lead our dedicated team of engineers. As a Software Engineering Manager, you will be leading a team of talented engineers, providing technical leadership and insight. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition and maintenance of databases, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing high-performing teams, a strong understanding of back-end technologies, and the ability to balance technical, business, and team needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of 5 to 10 back-end engineers of all levels, providing technical guidance and support to help them achieve their career goals and maximize their potential.

  • Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to define project goals, scope, and timelines. Ensure successful project delivery by optimizing resource allocation and addressing any roadblocks.

  • Enable their team to develop and implement strategies for reducing the lag between idea and production.

  • Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new engineering talent. Contribute to the growth of the team by identifying top talent and helping to build a diverse and high-performing team.

  • Collaborate with their team to identify architecture optimizations that improve cost and/or reliability and execute collaboratively with service owners.

  • Develop and maintain metrics for measuring the effectiveness of their team and use these metrics to drive improvement and optimize processes.

  • Build an engineering culture of driving customer-focused results.

  • Identify potential risks or technical challenges early in the project lifecycle and proactively develop mitigation strategies.

  • While your primary responsibility will be management and project management, you will still code when possible. This might equate to 20% to 30% of your time.

Education:

  • Preferred Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, or Math; Developer or Data Analytics nanodegree; or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Typically requires 8-10 years' experience.

An Associate Director -Technology II, earns between $174,100.00 - $261,100.00 USD Annual. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
