General Description Collect and analyze data in order to estimate the time, money, materials and labor required to manufacture a product or provide a service. Ideal candidate should have a manufacturing background and injection molding plastics is a plus. Responsibilities include: Analyzes specifications and technical documentation to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates. Prepares estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors. Confers with engineers, owners, contractors and subcontractors. Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops. Sets up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures. Prepares and maintains a directory of supplies, contractors, and subcontractors. Evaluates a products cost-effectiveness or profitability. Travels to gather information on materials if needed. Recommends ways to make a product more cost effective or profitable.
