Job Summary:

• We are looking for dedicated Volunteer Tax Preparers to join our VITA team. In this role, Volunteer Tax Preparers will provide free tax preparation services to low- to moderate-income individuals and families, ensuring compliance with IRS regulations while maximizing eligible tax credits.
• Key responsibilities include preparing and filing tax returns for clients using tax preparation software, conducting interviews to gather necessary financial information and assess eligibility for various tax credits, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with IRS guidelines and VITA program standards.
• Additionally, Volunteer Tax Preparers will provide guidance to clients on tax-related questions and issues, maintain confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive client information, and participate in training sessions to stay updated on tax law changes and VITA procedures.
• Collaboration with team members to improve service delivery and enhance the client experience is also an important aspect of this role.

Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of tax laws and regulations, along with a willingness to learn.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are crucial, while prior experience in tax preparation or customer service is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with tax preparation software will further contribute to success in this role.
