The Department of OBGYN has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Manager, Research (RN) to work in Miami, FL. The Manager, Research (RN) oversees the daily clinical administrative functions and management of staff. The incumbent ensures that interactions with investigators are effective and research projects are carried out in an efficient and timely fashion.

  • Oversees the scheduling of participant appointments and ensures study and clinical staffing needs are met.

  • Develops and ensures clinical standard operating procedures.

  • Provides complete and timely reporting of incidents and emergencies to upper management.

  • Conducts staff meetings and training sessions.

  • Supervises and maintains the research supply and equipment inventory.

  • Generates performance evaluations and proposes disciplinary actions when appropriate.

  • Develops protocol needs assessment and monitors quality assurance protocol for services provided.

  • Assists study teams in drafting orders for each research visit.

  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

  • Under the ultimate responsibility of the Principal Investigator (PI) and in close collaboration with the clinical/medical officer assigned to the study, the manager will manage day-to-day clinical research operations; study coordination duties, from protocol development/initiation to study close-out, according to regulatory/sponsor guidelines; and assure study integrity throughout.

  • This role will plan and carry out strategies to maximize adherence to clinical research and clinical care standards, regulations, and study approvals; promote collaboration among study teams, clinical personnel, and staff/faculty/study sites to ensure participant safety and protocol and data integrity; hold responsibility for study-related administrative tasks; and assure across-the-board flow of information, carefully defining study activities and personnel.

  • Defines activities in complex clinical research studies to prevent deviations/unanticipated events

  • Identifies clinical care/safety implications during study development (e.g. staff competencies, clinical needs)

  • Assists adherence to study-related SOPs/scientific manuals; plans, conducts, and evaluates study orientation, oversees protocol-related in-services to research team and clinical staff; institutes process improvements as needed

  • The RN will split their time between THRIVE and addiction services.

  • The RN will be trained to conduct medical visits and provide clinical support to THRIVE’s internist and nurse practitioner.

  • Under supervision of the practitioner, inform patients of lab results, call in prescriptions to pharmacies and return practitioners' phone messages. Ensure that the patient or family understands follow-up and referral information. Provide general health education within own level of expertise and as directed by practitioner

  • Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms clean and orderly; dispose of contaminated items according to SOP; anticipate Practitioner's needs for medications, supplies and equipment and plan accordingly.

  • Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures to appropriate level of training and established procedures. Ensure patient privacy and comfort during the exam; instruct patients in the collection of samples and other tests.

  • Actively participate in continuing education and meetings; participates in committees as requested; and participants in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.

  • Triages and responds to patient telephone call using approved protocols; ensuring documentation of the phone call meets standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, BSN in nursing prefer.

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)

  • Knowledge of business and management principles.

  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.

  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.

  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.

  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS)
