Job Description

IRC Background:As a part of the Asylum and Legal Protection (ALPS) Unit, the Legal Services Technical Unit provides technical oversight and support to immigration legal services across RAI’s network of 24 offices, in the United States, which collectively serve more than 20,000 immigration clients per year, and offers advice and guidance to local management as they expand and enhance services to meet urgent needs for quality, low-cost immigration legal services.

Job Overview:

Collectingconsistent and detailed data about service provision allows us to serve our clients effectively and efficiently. The collection of high-quality data also informs program management at the local level and across the network. Additionally, high-quality data helps capture and represent our work to external audiences, including RAI leadership and the IRC at large. Finally, accurate data is crucial in seeking funding and meeting reporting requirements for funders and donors.

IRC seeks a Data and Reporting Specialist to help ensure that high quality data on US Legal Services cases is collected for internal and external tracking purposes. The data and reporting specialist will assist with monthly review of data input into the immigration network’s case management system, pulling data from the case management system for internal reporting as needed, and pulling and preparing reports for funders. The Data and Reporting Specialist will also support communication with local data points of contact regarding data collection.

The Data and Reporting Specialist will collaborate with the Program Officer for Data and Knowledge Management to implement data review and data collection processes, and with local office data points of contact to help coordinate data collection. This is a fully remote position.

Major Responsibilities

  • Pull data from the case management system as required for internal and external data collection.

  • Review monthly data pulled from the case management system for completeness and consistency.

  • Support in formatting and processing raw data and prepare reports for funders as needed.

  • Communicate with local office data points of contact to ensure that data is entered in a timely manner and in compliance with deadlines established by funding requirements.

  • Maintain confidentiality pursuant to legal ethics rules.

  • Other tasks as needed.

    Team Collaboration

  • The Data and Reporting Specialist will be line-managed by the Program Officer for Data and Knowledge Management

  • The Data and Reporting Specialist will work with local offices’ data collection points of contact to coordinate data collection.

    Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum 1 year of experience related to working in a non-profit legal setting or working with refugees, asylum-seekers, and/or immigrant families.

  • Critical ability to manage time and demonstrated commitment to meet reporting deadlines.

  • Strong computer literacy, database, and analysis skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate as part of multiple teams.

  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, proactive, initiative to problem solve, and exercise sound judgement.

  • Deep commitment to working with immigrants, children, and asylum seekers.

  • Personal integrity in handling ethically complex and confidential situations.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel, and have experience with Adobe Acrobat, and other database/reporting systems.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and administrative skills, with a proven track record to prioritize projects with an extremely keen attention to detail.

    Working Environment

  • This is a remote position. Remote work is to be performed in one of the 50 U.S. states.

    Compensation:Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
