University of Miami Assistant Professor of Clinical - Otolaryngology, Audiology in Miami, Florida

The University of Miami Health System is initiating a search for an Assistant Professor of Audiology.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administers and interprets a variety of tests, such as speech reception, air and bone conduction

  • Discrimination tests, to determine the type and degree of hearing impairment

  • Contributes positively to the visibility, academic and research standing of the department

  • Provide Diagnostic Audiology and Rehabilitation services

  • Selects, administers, and interprets auditory tests

  • High frequency audiometry where indicated

  • Utilizes local, state, national and funding agency regulations to makes decisions regarding service eligibility

  • Conducts research on auditory topics

  • Participates in conference, forums or training to update or share knowledge of new hearing or speech disorder treatment methods

  • Conduct and participate in research, including presenting at national and local conferences

  • Train students and externs

  • In-depth knowledge of several hearing aid manufacturers, Oticon, GN Resound and Phonak in particular and BAHA

  • Maintains client records at all stages, including initial evaluation and discharge

  • Utilizes local, state, national and funding agency regulations to makes decisions regarding service eligibility

  • Conducts research on auditory topics

  • Comfortable in running a clinic independently

  • Travel to satellite clinics may be required

  • Occasional flexibility to cover for different audiology clinics in the absence of a co-worker is required

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Doctorate of Audiology degree required

  • Current/valid Florida Audiologist license required

  • Primary specialties are vestibular and diagnostics

  • Bilingual is preferred

  • One year of audiologist-related experience is required
