TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION E280 Transportation Engineer I, II or III with the Traffic Operations Design office in Dallas District in Mesquite, Texas

Performs transportation engineering work in project development and design for transportation and traffic operations, construction, and maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Traffic Signal, Illumination, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Design using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as Microstation/Open Roads Designer and SignCad. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.Essential Duties for a Transportation Engineer I, II or III: Assists with design, computer operations and plan preparation. Coordinates and monitors assigned projects/programs/plans. Coordinates on design schematics, assists with capacity and level of service studies and reviews in-house and consultant traffic control/traffic management/intelligent transportation systems (ITS) plans and projects. Monitors consultants' progress and work quality; checks invoices and associated documents; prepares supplemental agreements. Performs engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts. Responsible for Traffic Engineering operations. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
