Job Title: Site Safety Manager - Mesa, AZ
Job Summary:
The Site Safety Manager (SSM) serves as the on-site specialist in safety by implementing best practices and procedures within the company that effectively control accident and health exposures and minimize OSHA citations.
Duties and responsibilities:
Educating / training labor about safety measures
Manage accident / safety claims as they occur (accompany employee to urgent care)
Follow up on accidents and investigating causes
Maintain accident reports / records
Manage return to work / modified duty claims
Maintain incident reports (by occurrence)
Manage safety equipment for Hot Work, Fall Protection, & Confined Space
Perform job site inspections (reports)
Complete site specific safety plans as required
Enforce safety policies and procedures
Qualifications:
Qualifications include:
BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred
3 – 5 years of experience as Site Safety Manager on a construction site
Good understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
Excellent organizational and motivational skills
Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
Good communication and interpersonal abilities
Good knowledge of MS Office Suite
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
Working Conditions:
Mix between field and office-based work environment. Typical working hours for the SSM may vary. Generally Monday – Friday during normal business hours, but when safety incidents occur, they may be required to work much longer hours, including some weekend work. While in the field the SSM may be required to stay away from home for short to long periods of time. Some travel may be required for training/continuing education.
While performing the duties of this job, the SSM may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration; may be exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites (weather, noise, etc.).

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Site Safety Manager to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The SSM is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Direct reports
None, but the SSM interacts with General Foreman/Foreman in the field. Reports to Arizona Area Safety Manager.
