Amazon Logistics Ops Manager - PPF, Project Kuiper in Merritt Island, Florida
Description
Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.
Key job responsibilities
Build and scale Transportation activities involving the Payload Processing Facility (PPF)
Develop and document Transportation related SOPs related to operations at the PPF
Conduct weekly business reviews with stakeholders
Lead and manage a team of Transportation personnel directly supporting PPF operations
Directly responsible for deploying Transportation personnel to support domestic and international launch activities
Supervising inbound/outbound shipping, receiving, inventory and warehousing operations
Develop and regularly review yard operations metrics (On-Time %, Vehicle Down %, etc.)
Develop measures to minimize risk from unavoidable delays
Coordinate and receive shipments involving 3rd party suppliers
Direct and coordinate trailer or container movements within the PPF Yard
Manage fleet of vehicles assigned to the PPF operation, to include inspections and coordination of maintenance activities
Compliance with US Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to include CFR Title 49 – Hazardous Materials Transportation Regulations
Interface with PPF personnel and ensure material flow is planned and executed
Shift schedule will vary, depending on production/launch schedules
Role requires up to 25% domestic and international travel to support launch activities

Basic Qualifications
5+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, planning and operations
5+ years of team management experience
5+ year(s) of process development/improvement experience
5+ year(s) of developing, tracking, and reporting metrics
Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
Relevant experience working with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment
Ability to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks
Valid Driver’s license and able to satisfy Amazon driver eligibility criteria
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Passport
Ability and willingness to comply with the Government of French Guiana which mandates that travelers receive vaccinations for yellow fever or applicable government exemption
With or without reasonable accommodations, must be able to lift up to 49 pounds on some occasions, stand/walk for up to 8-10 hours (with breaks), and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach.
