Commander, Navy Installations SOCIAL WORKER (FFSP/FAP) in Meridian, Mississippi

Responsibilities You will assess and triage clients who present risk to harm self or others and refer to the appropriate and nearest behavioral health provider. You will initiate, develop, and facilitate group treatment programs to address the needs of families, such as marital groups and child and adolescent groups. You will assist the Navy Clinical Supervisor with developing Non-medical Clinical Counseling (NMC) case management protocols, program delivery criteria, and identifying gaps in existing services. You will receive and assess referrals made by military and civilian agencies for individuals, couples, families, and groups experiencing situational stressors, including deployment, grief, relocation, separation, and others. You will develop and execute short-term, solution focused NMC counseling treatment plans for those individuals who request such services and who present with commonly occurring life circumstance issues or adjustment disorders. You will ensure compliance with maintenance, security and safety of records, reports, files and information relating to CAP components and ensures applicable assets and interests are protected. You will assist the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) Site Director in the management, control, development, coordination and execution of assigned programs. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Employing various evidence-based and trauma-informed counseling approaches, clinical treatment principles and practices, research methods, group dynamics, motivational interviewing, developmental psychology, and family systems therapy to counsel individuals, couples, families, and groups; 2) Using various verbal communication methods and techniques to effectively work with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds to present information, discuss cases, deliver presentations, and develop and maintain professional relationships with other treatment professionals; 3) Demonstrating skill in the use of various written communication methods and techniques and using a management information system software and other applicable web-based programs to effectively document case management and treatment plans, counseling requirements and services, and to facilitate the completion of work assignments; 4) Coordinating CAP services, including intake, work load distribution, assessments, case management, liaison, outreach/marketing, education, and partnerships; 5) Maintaining FAP clinical case records, treatment plans and required statistical data, in order to monitor and collaborate with the FAP Supervisor or FAR on all child sexual abuse cases involving alleged active-duty offenders or family member victims; and 6) Utilizing and applying the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders to recognize, identify, and assess mental disorders and personal and social problems to reach accurate conclusions and provide appropriate solutions. Education Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: This position is a TIER TWO clinical care practitioner. Applicants must meet all of the following requirements as outlined in SECNAVINST 1754.8: 1. Possess at least a masters or doctoral degree in one of the following disciplines: a. Master's degree from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) or an equivalent degree, OR b. Master's degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) or an equivalent degree, OR c. Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) or an equivalent degree, OR d. Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited university or professional school and a one-year APA accredited clinical internship 2. State or U.S. territory license or certification that provides legal authority to provide clinical services as an independent practitioner in the fields of Licensed Professional Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology. 3. When the state or U.S. territory licensing or certification requirements include a written examination, candidates for privileging, must have achieved a passing score on that examination. 4. Must have engaged in two years, full-time, post-masters supervised clinical experience. Additional Information This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled. This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately up to 20% of time away from the regular duty station to attend or provide training, conduct FFSP certification visits, or deliver services aboard ships. The position may require working flexible hours, such as 0700-1500 or 0900-1800 to accommodate client's needs to have after hour care, including weekend hours. This position requires routine on-site access to government facilities. The incumbent may perform the required tasks at an off-site location for situational telework only. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments. Physical Demands: Work is primarily sedentary in nature; however, the incumbent may be required to carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds, including files, books, reference materials, audio-visual equipment, etc. Work Environment: The primary work environment is an adequately lighted, heated and ventilated office setting or conference room.
