Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Job Responsibilities
As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate care and support to patients in various locations within the Lauderdale County area. Your responsibilities include:
Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):
- Help patients with daily tasks such as serving meals, feeding, ambulating, turning, and positioning.
- Ensure patients receive fresh water and nourishment between meals.
Adjunct Care Provision:
- Administer enemas, douches, and non-sterile dressings as needed.
- Prepare surgical preps, apply ice packs, and provide heat treatments.
- Assist with sitz baths and therapeutic baths.
- Apply restraints when necessary.
Monitoring Patient Stability:
- Regularly check vital signs (such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature) to maintain patient stability.
- Monitor weight changes.
- Test urine samples and record intake and output information.
Patient Comfort and Communication:
- Utilize available resources and materials to enhance patient comfort.
- Transport patients as required.
- Respond promptly to patients' call lights and requests.
- Report any observations or concerns about patients to the nursing supervisor.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Complete necessary forms, reports, logs, and records accurately.
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
Confidentiality and Professionalism:
- Safeguard patient information and maintain confidentiality.
- Uphold professional standards, hospital policies, federal and state requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
Continuous Learning and Growth:
- Participate in educational opportunities to stay updated on best practices.
- Read relevant professional publications.
- Engage with professional organizations.
- Maintain licensure as required.
