Job Description

Avery Dennison is seeking a Marketing Director, High Value Segments Product Line Teams to join the Materials Group North America organization. The Marketing Director has P&L responsibility and accountability to deliver growth and share goals for the related product lines and segments. In addition to growth, the product line team is linked closely with multiple cross functional teams driving and leading projects related to innovation, portfolio management, pricing, alignment with operations capabilities and service strategies.  The Marketing Director will  lead the product management team and business development resources across a variety of segments and applications including industrial, wine & spirits, pharmaceutical, food and custom applications. The director leads global initiatives in the business as needed and is linked closely to the key global product line and innovation strategies. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • P&L responsibility for Durables & Specialty Product Line in North America.

  • Provide key business direction to Specialty product managers, driving growth in sales, market share and profitability.

  • Work closely with Core Innovation, Market Segment, Business Development, Sales teams and our Solutions Group business unit to identify and create product solutions for unmet market needs.

  • Lead and coordinate key product innovation efforts within the product line, linking closely to Marketing Segment Leaders and Sales on commercialization strategy.

  • Collaborate with Operations and Procurement to re-engineer and drive profitability through cost out initiatives. 

  • Lead and coordinate Annual Operating and Strategic Planning process for the product line through collaborative relationships with Finance, Procurement, Sales and Operations.

  • Develop and maintain a 3-5 year product roadmap for the Durables & Specialty product lines in NA. Engage with the Global PLT leaders and Innovation Platform teams to provide input on the global roadmap.

  • Business Development for four different segment areas to drive a combination of near term results and long term strategy within the value chain; establish strong end-user relationships and insights for value-creation and market-driven innovation needs.

  • Lead key strategic initiatives in the business, both on a regional and global basis as needed.

  • Drive continuous improvement in day to day processes to implement standard work in areas that drive efficiency and lead to sales and profitability expansion.

  • Support sales team by actively participating in customer visits and leading and sponsoring H1 events and other growth initiatives.

  • Lead and develop professional staff, driving performance, training and development activities as necessary. Identify talent gaps and infuse key talent into the organization and advocate career development of the team.

     

Qualifications

  • 10 years experience, minimum 

  • 10-15 years general business and progressive management experience in Fortune 500 Companies

  • Expert in product management, business and/or market development

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Marketing with MBA strongly preferred

  • Past responsibilities in target setting and managing product line P&L

  • Cross functional leadership experience both inside and outside of marketing is preferred

  • Strategic thinker with keen problem solving capabilities and proven track record of driving execution both personally and through teams

  • Proven ability to identify, select, develop and retain top talent in an organization  

     

This position is a key feeder position to executive level roles, especially in marketing but also possibly to other functions.
