Job Summary
Join our Menomonee Falls, WI team as an Electrical Engineer II focusing on our Aftermarket programs.
In this role, you will be involved with the design, maintenance, development, modification, analysis, and support of core aftermarket product lines including motor controller and power conversion applications for naval ships and submarines. You will troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in these and other existing products or systems and make recommendations as appropriate. You will also leverage existing aftermarket products to design and scope new product offerings or develop design upgrades and drive improvement initiatives. Common tasks include compiling and evaluating design, build, test, and field data to conceptualize, recommend, and implement new designs or make critical improvements to resolve issues, address part obsolescence, and execute technical refresh/redesign projects.
What You Will Do
Design, maintain, develop, analyze, document, and support testing of aftermarket equipment and systems, including motor controller and power conversion applications
Aid in the redesign of existing systems to fulfill the needs of customers
Manage, coordinate, and address part obsolescence of applicable designs
Utilize computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software
Provide budget, cost, and schedule input for design assignments
Document component and subsystem specifications and material requirements
Recommend and specify parts, subsystems, and services for new designs or to address issues
Support the product line design to cost and design for manufacture requirements, including leading or supporting internal improvement projects or initiatives
Communicate clearly (written and oral) with manufacturing, supply chain, program management and the customer
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience
3+ years of detailed design experience, including proven analog and digital control circuit design experience
Strong verbal and written communication skills to aid interactions within Electrical Engineering, other internal departments and external customers
Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to ensure multiple assignments are completed properly and on time
Able to effectively multi-task and handle changing work assignments, schedules, and priorities
Candidates must be a US citizen and meet DRS security standards as imposed by DoD, including the issuance of any necessary security clearance by the US government within a reasonable time after commencement of employment
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
Experience with supporting systems and equipment throughout the entire product lifecycle, especially motor control or motor drive applications
Experience with AutoCAD Electrical and Altium software tools
Experience in design for six sigma and product improvement initiatives is a plus
Experience with obsolescence management and reliability improvements
Experience with power conversion devices, architectures, and topologies is a plus
Ability to research, collect, and report information on the ability and capacity of company products and capture how they compare to competing equipment in the marketplace
Experience developing military products and familiarity with military specifications
Capable of up to 10% travel, including air
U.S. Citizenship required.
