The Ear, Nose, and Throat Operating Unit is a global leader and trusted partner for innovative ENT solutions that improve patient access, outcomes, and customer satisfaction. Over the past 20 years, we have become the global market leader in three key segments – image-guided surgery, intraoperative nerve monitoring, and powered surgical instruments. We continue to launch valuable ENT solutions in these areas as well as tissue health and balloon sinus dilation.

This is an on-site role supporting commercial manufacturing processes in a high paced dynamic environment. The Principal Process engineer will translate goals into tasks to accomplish objectives and determine and implement actions to achieve and maintain key performance indicators, all while maintaining compliance to tight industry regulations. They will work in a matrix environment leveraging cross functional resources to achieve objectives. Requires a self-starter who is a good collaborator and action oriented.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Provides technical and sustaining engineering support in a manufacturing area.

  • Recommends and implements equipment and process modifications to meet quality standards and improve production efficiencies, manufacturing techniques as well as production yields for existing products.

  • Validates processes, equipment and software used in operations.

  • Integrates equipment and material capabilities to meet process module target specifications and technology target specifications.

  • Reviews product development requirements for compatibility with processing methods to determine costs and schedules.

  • Interacts with product design and development personnel to ensure that processes and designs are compatible.

  • May develop and conduct statistical analysis or recommend additions to document work.

  • Leads the innovation, development and/or optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations.

  • This can include scouting and feasibility work, material selection, process and equipment selection, tooling / fixture and equipment installation and assessment of inputs, outputs and alignment to requirements.

  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques including the measurement systems.

  • Leads problem solving activities including DMAIC, NCMRs and CAPAs.

  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulation.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements: To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements and your permanent address are evident on your resume.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical Sciences.

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant Engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.

  • Must have demonstrated practical knowledge of project management.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified- Black Belt Certified a plus.

Nice to Have: Preference will be given to applicants who possess the following skills, experiences, and certifications.

  • Experience in medical device manufacturing or manufacturing in a highly regulated industry/environment.

  • Advanced degree in Engineering.

  • Experience working in a regulated environment including compliance with 21 CFR 820, 210/211 and ISO 13485 including GMP.

  • Experience with micro-plume spray coating.

  • PMP certified.

  • CAPA experience.

  • Versed in Minitab

  • Demonstrated experience leading Kaizen events.

  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities and technical competency.

  • Prior knowledge and experience value stream mapping and lean manufacturing.

  • Prior knowledge and experience in AutoCAD/Solidworks in drafting plant layouts, manufacturing fixtures, engineering drawings, automation etc.

  • Demonstrated communication skills in presenting information effectively and collaborating with different cross functional groups to achieve work objectives.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$133,600.00 - $200,400.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
