POSITION OVERVIEW:
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory seeks a Material Services Technician Lead for the Accelerator Directorate Technical Planning Department. The successful candidate will support the LCLS-II-HE Project. The Material Services Technician Lead will work with the department Planning Team and technicians to ensure the successful execution of manufacturing projects for complex assemblies. This position leads a team responsible for managing inventory and logistics, purchasing, scheduling of fabrication, and tracking of deliverables. This position reports to the TPD Production Supervisor in the Mechanical Engineering and Technical Services Division of SLAC¿s Accelerator Directorate.
Given the nature of this position, SLAC will require onsite work.
Your specific responsibilities include:
The Material Services Technician Lead works independently to provide material services to the manufacturing groups and serves as a lead to train and direct the work of other Material Services Technicians.
Set priorities for self and other based on customer requests and organization priorities.
Identify process gaps and leads new process development for continuous improvement.
Assist supervisor or other Material Services Technicians to resolve task related problems.
Assign and explain tasks to workers based on instructions specifications received from supervisor.
Inspect work for conformance with specifications.
Train employees to meet quality and quantity standards.
Advise supervisor of work progress.
Promote adherence to safety rules and perform assigned duties in line with applicable safety rules and ensure safety rules are followed.
May perform any of the duties described in the Material Services Technician II specification or other duties as assigned.
Assist the Production Supervisor with work order scheduling, inventory management, logistics coordination and warehouse maintenance and organization.

High School or vocational curriculum equivalency and four years of experience in manufacturing industry or other related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Advanced knowledge in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
Must have experience operating powered and manual industrial vehicles and other appropriate hand tools.
Must have experience in using Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) system.
Demonstrated skills in tasks directed and the ability to resolve task-related problems independently.
Ability to train and lead others.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of standard office software such as MS Office Suite, MS Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Ability to work independently and in a diverse team environment.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment, take initiative to complete duties proactively, and work under tight deadlines.
Experience with Visual Manufacturing Software.
Demonstrated experience with an on-line purchase requisition and purchase order system such as PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP.

This position is represented by SEIU Local 2007 and the collective bargaining agreement between the university and SEIU Local 2007 governs the terms and conditions of employment.
The expected pay range for this position is $45.64 (Step 1) - $55.19 (Step 10) per hour. Placement in the range is subject to the applicable Collective Bargaining Unit. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
