JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of the Payroll Specialist II is to accurately process payroll for over 4,000 personnel in multi-state, union, and multiple legal entities. Also, research and report Certified Payroll information to the proper parties based on contractual or otherwise necessary demands. The Payroll Specialist also provides compliance with personnel support and management of sensitive information and labor laws. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Process scheduled and on demand payrolls for multiple legal entities. Understands statutory requirements and tax issues related to payroll. Ensure compliance on filing and payroll reporting. Report certified payroll to the proper agency as determined by contractual or otherwise required demands. Communicate necessary remedies for inaccurately tracked or recorded time. Review and analyze job costing and correct payroll classifications and requirements. Maintain compliance of labor laws. Understand union CBA rules to ensure correct employee compensation. Understand union fringes and calculations. Research errors and make recommendations for repetitive issues. Collaborate with the Payroll Supervisor, Managers and other leadership on benefits, compensation, tax reporting/reconciliation and HR related items in the support of payroll changes. Other duties may be assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Please note this is an in-office position The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully, however in some cases, an equivalent combination of Education, Training, Certifications and Experience may meet the job qualifications. Education, Training, Certifications: High School diploma/ GED or Accounting certificate, required. Associate's and/or bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or similar; preferred. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or similar, preferred. Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements: 2+ years of performing payroll in the Construction or Contracting industries, preferred. 3+ years processing payroll, taxes, benefits, and union fringes, preferred. 2+ years reporting certified payroll to proper agencies, preferred. Processing weekly payroll for over 4,000 personnel in multi-state, union, and legal entities. Communication Skills: Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Systems and Software Skills: Ability to operate a computer, use Microsoft Office required. Other Qualifications: Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required. Must be able to comply with SFPH's Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods. Employee will occasio ally be required to bend, kneel, balance, lift <20lb, walk, stand, ascend/descend stairs, drive, twist, and reach above and below shoulders. Employee will frequently be required to drive and walk for periods. Work Environment: Employee will consistently be required to work indoors in an office or remote setting, work alone and with others. Employee will occasionally be required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies. Employee will rarely be required to travel.
