A Fiber Optic Telecommunication Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic telecommunication systems. The technician ensures the proper functioning of fiber optic cables and related equipment to deliver high-speed data, voice, and video transmission services. This role requires a combination of technical skills, precision, and a strong understanding of fiber optic technology. Employees will be trained in all areas. Key Responsibilities - Installation and Splicing - Install, splice, and terminate fiber optic cables in various environments, including aerial, underground, and indoor settings. - Perform mechanical and fusion splicing of fiber optic cables to ensure seamless connectivity. - Install and configure fiber optic enclosures, patch panels, and other hardware. - Testing and Troubleshooting: - Use specialized tools such as Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs), power meters, and light sources to test and troubleshoot fiber optic cables. - Identify and repair fiber optic faults, including breaks, bends, and other issues affecting signal quality. - Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of fiber optics
