$100,700-$134,300 per year

The Job You Will Perform:

The Health & Safety Program Manager develops, recommends, and implements global programs, policies, and procedures associated with the recognition, measurement, evaluation, and control of potential health and safety hazards.

This individual will work within the Health & Safety Center of Excellence, and will closely with the businesses and facility EHS teams. The individual will drive the implementation of global compliance and management systems, assure identification and resolution of critical risk items, and monitor and support progress against enterprise initiatives to improve health and safety performance.

This role will be responsible for:

  • Evaluating work activities, designing, developing, implementing and recommending risk mitigation or abatement controls.

  • Developing training programs and trainers to ensure effectiveness, consistency, and compliance with mandated EHS training requirements.

  • At times leading the reviews and approvals of event investigations to determine causation factors.

  • Reviewing and interpreting U.S. federal, state health and safety regulatory and consensus standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DHS, ANSI, NFPA), including regulations on the global stage.

  • Provides support to management for H&S activities and internal support to meet corporate H&S goals.

  • Measures and evaluates company performance against key indicators. Identifies trends, emerging issues and develops improvement strategies.

This individual will also serve as an adjunct (part-time) EHS Auditor, which will include participating in audits which identify strengths and weaknesses in facility procedures, programs, and management; develop timely and accurate audit reports; promote the understanding of EHS obligations and compliance assurance methods to facility staff in a clear and meaningful way; and effectively communicate audit findings/information to facility staff and business management.setting. The candidate must also be able to manage multiple tasks while engaging with diverse clients and customers, preferably skilled with the ability to make the complex simple.

This individual will need to possess and demonstrate: strong leadership skills, adaptability, and strong collaboration and team building skills. The ability to set priorities based on the businesses needs and corporate objectives while working closely with business and EHS leadership will be critical. This individual will be recognized as the technical expert (internally and externally) in one or more H&S disciplines. The individual will also be involved in personnel development for site and corporate H&S staff through a coordinated approach of knowledge sharing (i.e., EHSU training, EHS mill calls).

The Skills You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene, chemical or environmental engineering or environmental sciences, or related field.

  • Prefer Master’s degree in the above disciplines

  • Prefer Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification

  • 5 to 10 years work experience in a complex manufacturing environment.

  • EHS audit experience desired

  • Formal and/or experiential knowledge of business and management fundamentals is required.

  • Demonstrated record of success managing multiple projects and initiatives

  • Proficient knowledge of relevant laws, regulations and consensus standards

  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills, both verbal and written.

  • The ability to work successfully at all levels of the enterprise, from shop floor through senior management. Must possess confidence, poise and be functionally very competent.

  • Project management skills

  • Must be able to think strategically and to execute and deliver results. A commitment to personal learning and self-development will be important.

  • Experience leading project teams.

  • Knowledge of U.S. EH&S regulations required.

  • Experience applying lean methodologies to EHS processes and improvement initiatives desired.
