JOB SUMMARY Responsible for assisting with the management, establishment, implementation, and maintenance of a safe, healthy work environment, compliant with all company, customer, and government regulations pertaining to health and safety, industrial hygiene, and environmental protection. Responsible for ensuring all safety objectives are implemented site wide. This is an on-site position in a manufacturing environment.

This role will be based on-site at our Memphis, TN facility.

The site offers expansive configure-to-order and build-to-order manufacturing services for diverse industry segments. Jabil Memphis has about 750,000 square feet of manufacturing space. The manufacturing capabilities of the team at Jabil Memphis enable this location to provide complete product solutions to our customers in several industries including point-of-sale, storage, and networking and telecommunications. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists and counsels’ managers, safety council members, area coordinators, and employees.

  • Evaluates the work environment from the standpoint of ergonomics, machine guarding, and any other applicable regulations.

  • Conducts/assists in audits, accident investigations, and trend analysis.

  • Leads/participates in cross functional teams for EHS issue resolution or for new equipment/process approval.

  • Provides consultation and assists with initiatives related to EHS projects and programs

  • Supports workers compensation

  • Assists in development of chemically safe work practices, institutes and revises lockout/tag-out procedures, confined space/permit program, and all other applicable process safety rule procedures.

  • Conducts safety audits, supports inspections & maintains OSHA or equivalent local regulatory required documentation followed by issuing corrective action and even escalation of issues of non-compliance if not addressed timely or for repeat offenses

  • Provides consultation and oversight for the site hazardous waste management system including but not limited to establishing training on proper labeling, handling, documentation, and overall guidance to facilitate compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • May perform hazardous waste regulatory audits followed by issuing corrective action and even escalation for issues of non-compliance with governmental regulations and Jabil policy when non-compliance is not addressed timely or for repeat offenses.

  • Maintain site waste stream production through online program by working with facilities and finance to get accurate data

  • May assist site EHS Manager in the development of hazardous incident procedures and trains site Subject Matter Expert’s and employees on proper methods of response control and clean-up.

  • Manages the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental and safety programs such as: management systems requirements (ISO/EICC/OSHAS…etc), hazard communication, control of change, hazardous waste management, reporting site key performance factors, Green House Gas data, chemical management systems and programs, personal protective equipment, dangerous goods – hazardous materials management, emergency preparedness, regulatory reporting and data collection.

  • Maintains site environmental permits and complies with all reporting and permit application requirements under all related local and regional laws and regulations.

  • Performs facility tours and inspections of manufacturing operations, office, and shipping areas as well as the facility's grounds. Ensures compliance with EHS policies including operating procedures and protective equipment requirements. Mentors sites for the implementation of Global and Regional EHS initiatives.

  • Responsible for regulatory internal reporting, internal auditing and validation of compliance activities and reporting all relevant accidents and dangerous occurrences to the EHS Manager.

  • Coordinates with process engineering departments and operations management to review and revise process procedures, chemicals and equipment. Works with process engineering to identify lower risk chemical and process alternatives to high risk materials and processes. Evaluates site chemical management systems to assure all required elements required for robust controls are in place to comply with regulations and mitigate to the best extent possible risk to employees, the environment and the business.

  • Support the review and assessment of plant modifications. Provide technical safety input to the design and construction of new facilities including impact on automation lines and process equipment.

  • Participate in pre-start up safety reviews and equipment walk-downs to identify relevant safety items and complete Health & Safety audits.

  • Conduct process hazards and risk assessments. Review and update existing risk assessments.

  • May be required to train other department employees to perform internal EHS management systems audits.

  • Develops employee’s safety/environmental training and awareness programs and trains applicable employees to these trainings. Ensure timely delivery of mandatory regulatory training within legal timeframes. Audits site employee safety orientations and applicable EHS training effectiveness and records to meet Jabil, governmental and regulatory requirements.

  • Performs gap analysis and internal audits against global EHS Policy as well as international standards (ISO14001, OSHAS18001, EICC EHS Code Conformance…etc). Supports sites and corporate level functions during international standard certification audits by Jabil registrar and/or customer standards audits. Uses enterprise systems to initiate track close and measure effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions against internal and external audit findings.

  • Implementation of corporate Health & Safety systems with specific emphasis on process safety management, process hazards analysis, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, accident and injury reporting and change control. Can perform as Program/Project Manager for EHS initiatives and systems at the site, region and global level as appropriate.

  • Networks with professional organizations and industry trade associations to leverage the industry knowledge base in the EHS profession. Stays current with regulatory and technical development in the field by personal review of industry journals –publications and training/seminars.

  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security and records management policies.

  • Familiarity with emergency response planning, in addition to fire protection systems and ensure that a minimum of two emergency evacuations are carried out on an annual basis.

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts to reduce occurrences of recordable injuries. Monitor the performance of safe systems of work and current safe operating procedures. Implement improvements as required.

  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent communication, presentation, organizational and training skills .

  • Ability to interpret relevant legislation, and regulatory compliance procedures.

  • Working knowledge of all applicable local, regional and international government regulations that apply to environmental regulation, employees’ health and safety & hazardous substances management.

  • Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge with any of the following skills is a plus: Powered Industrial Truck Trainer, Monitoring hazardous substances/waste, storm water permit

  • Analyzing manufacturing processes, evaluating production machinery, and/or chemical exposures to determine safety and environmental hazards/risks and alternative solutions.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work with all levels within the organization and third parties.

  • Competent in MS Office.

    MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related discipline is required.

  • Minimum of 2+ years of related Health/Safety manufacturing experience, including writing and rolling out safety programs.

  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
