Baptist Memorial Director-Regional Clinical Site in Memphis, Tennessee

Summary

Plan, develop, implement, and provide guidance and expertise for policies and procedures that will aid in the establishment and operation of OMS III and OMS IV clinical rotations for BUCOM students in cooperation with affiliates and partners of the COM. Assist our affiliated clinical partners with both the development of new and continued compliance of existing medical student programs to meet COCA requirements. Work with hospitals and other institutions to establish clinical rotations, oversee clinical rotations to ensure quality evaluation and improvement, assist in the recruitment of preceptors and other personnel. Work with the Assistant Deans of OMS III and IV to develop, deliver and assess a comprehensive educational program for the clinical years of osteopathic medical education. Provide consultation and assistance to aid in ensuring that the programs provide for the integration of scientifically based, outcome evaluated clinical knowledge and skills, biomedical sciences and osteopathic principles and practices.

Will be primary lead to plan, develop and implement a comprehensive system for preceptor recruitment and credentialing, clinical rotation scheduling, and oversight of the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program for all clinical rotations occurring in the Baptist Memorial Health Care System.

Responsibilities

1.Strategic Planning:

Demonstrates an active and consistent commitment to the mission of the College of Osteopathic Medicine(COM).Provide oversight and direction for clinical preceptors, administration, and staff at the clinical rotation site in developing, implementing, and evaluating the undergraduate medical education curriculum and programs.

2.EnrollmentManagementand Retention:

AssistswithEnrollmentManagementinitiativesoftheCOMandUniversityasapplicable.

3.DepartmentOperations:

Principal academic administrator at individual rotation site responsible for recruiting qualified preceptors, overseeing training schedules, supporting student well-being, creating a supportive and safe learning environment, collaborating with COM faculty and staff to deliver professional development activities, and ensuring that all evaluations are completed and submitted in a timely fashion.

4.Learning:

Cooperates with the Assistant Deans of OMS III and IV to facilitate the development and implementation of comprehensive curriculum (including OPP/OMM curricula), that promotes student learning outcomes that meet accreditationstandardsoftheSouthernAssociationofCollegesandSchoolsCommissiononColleges (SACSCOC), Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA), Accreditation Council Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and professional accrediting agencies. Collaborates with BUCOM Director of Faculty Development and Continuing Medical Education to promote faculty growth and development through educational programs and seminars, whether online or live at the location.

5.Human Resources:

Principaladministratorforoperationalmanagementofthesitethroughrecruiting, training, and evaluating preceptors and staff to promote quality instruction, satisfaction, and development.

6.FinanceandBudget:

Responsible for input to the department operational/capital budgets.

7.IE/Accreditation and Program Review:

Collaborates with the Office of Clinical Affairs to assure compliance with external requirements, including but not limited to SACSCOC, COCA, ACGME, and other professional accrediting agencies as applicable.

8.Teaching/Scholarly Activities:

Engages in teaching, practice, and/or research as compatible with COM needs and individual scholarship goals, as appropriate.

9.Other:

Performs related accountabilities responsibilities as required or directed.

Requirements, Preferences and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

Terminal degree(Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or Medical Doctor Degree, PhD, EdD, DHSc) with current Board Certification in appropriate area of specialization if applicable.

Five years (5) academic experience as a full-time faculty member at a College of Osteopathic Medicine, College of Allopathic Medicine, Academic Health Care Teaching Center, or seven years (7) experience as a full-time faculty member in a Graduate Medical Education program.

Demonstrated leadership and productivity in the areas of clinical or professional service, scholarly activity, medical research, or education.

Proficiency in applying advanced concepts, principles, and techniques of learning theories, educational practices, and procedures.

Demonstrated ability to develop, manage, promote, and evaluate academic/educational programs and staff.

Expertise in negotiation

Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels

Ability to work as a group leader and group member, team player

Ability to obtain license/certification to practice in the State of Tennessee, as appropriate.

Good standing with all regulatory and governmental boards and agencies.

Eligible for coverage by college's malpractice insurer if applicable.
