Aston Carter Accounting Manager in Memphis, Tennessee
Description:
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, ensuring compliance with local Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and Japanese reporting requirements. Access online banking accounts to process/initiate cash transfers
Lead the annual budgeting process and provide accurate financial forecasts. Monitor financial performance against budget and recommend corrective actions as needed.
Oversee the general ledger accounting functions, ensuring accurate recording of all financial transactions, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close processes.
Develop and maintain internal control policies to safeguard company assets, ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards, and minimize financial risk.
Manage cost accounting activities related to manufacturing processes, including inventory valuation, variance analysis, and cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations, as well as Canadian tax and statutory reporting requirements. Prepare and file all necessary tax documentation for the U.S. and Canada.
Coordinate external and internal audits, ensuring all required documentation is accurate and readily available. Act as the key point of contact for external auditors.
Manage, mentor, and develop the accounting team members. Ensure the team adheres to accounting standards and fosters a collaborative work environment.
Manage and optimize accounting software (ERP systems), driving efficiencies and improvements in accounting processes, including automation where possible.
Prepare discrimination Testing, 5500 reporting, and work with audit staff advising and processing disbursements for two companies.
Oversee and approve 401k uploads and funding as well as oversee and approve preparation of the weekly payroll transmission for two companies.
Prepare documents for monthly production meetings.
State Sales Tax Reporting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Strong understanding of GAAP, and IFRS accounting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software (ERP systems) such as SAP, Oracle, or similar systems.
Advanced knowledge of Excel and financial modeling.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting/finance roles, with at least 3 years in a
management capacity, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
Experience working in a Japanese-owned company or knowledge of Japanese business
practices and culture is highly desirable.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or
Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred.
