Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Electrical Engineer with experience in subsystems development to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Vehicle Organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL .
Responsibilities involve multiple aspects of aircraft subsystem development including electrical design, analysis, requirements, lab testing and data post processing, and working shipside to help troubleshoot issues. These aircraft subsystems may include, but are not limited to, Avionic System Architecture, Cable Design, and Electrical Power Generation & Distribution.
Key Responsibilities May Include:
Developing electrical wiring designs of a functional system including the selection of aircraft-type conductors and electro-mechanical components such as connectors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, terminal junction systems, etc. in accordance with SAE AS 50881 and proven commercial practices.
Supporting design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion and distribution systems, and circuit protective requirements for aerospace vehicle systems including Electrical Loads Analysis, test procedures, power architectures, reports, analyses, and other vehicle power related deliverables. Familiarization with MIL-STD-704 required
Responsible engineer activities, which include all aspects of system/component design and development including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test & verification, and troubleshooting. These activities may also include participating on a subcontractor management team and will act as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement.
System level test planning, execution support, verification, data processing, and troubleshooting.
System level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.
Working independently under general supervision and as part of a large multi-disciplined team.
Attending internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings and/or formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
Working in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 8 years of engineering experience in electrical design of air vehicle systems, OR Master’s degree AND 6 years of engineering experience.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to start of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Experience with military aircraft subsystem development, with requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration and test and verification for advance aircraft.
Experience interpreting component detail drawings, specifications, installation drawings, and test procedures.
Salary Range: $114,900 - $172,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
