Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Principal Avionics RF Engineer/Sr. Principal Avionics RF Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

**This position may be filled by either a Principal Avionics RF Engineer - Materials and Process level or a Sr. Principal Avionics RF Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.

The candidate will perform the SOW of an Avionics RF Engineer guiding the development of the architecture while coordinating with the Technical Lead.

Essential Functions:

  • Support of the verification of aircraft avionics and Prime Mission Equipment installations and aircraft certification documents such as SSOWs, PDIRs, and SCDs

  • Providing engineering support for RF Performance Analysis

  • Create aircraft system schematics to support air vehicle wiring diagrams

  • Requirements development and analysis with the capability to support trade studies

  • Informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements in lab, with the ability to troubleshoot hardware avionics equipment in a lab environment

  • Manage suppliers, review, and analyze supplier design data, define functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration, and support test execution

  • Support flight test activities and post flight data analysis, and resolution of flight test anomalies

A successful Avionics RF Engineer has good leadership skills and understands the scope of the work and the impact of the work on other teams. The Avionics RF Engineer consistently brings up concerns, issues and risk and holds team to a high level of technical rigor.

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Avionics RF Engineer (T03):

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 5 or more years of engineering experience or MS with 3 years or more year of engineering experience or Ph.D.

  • Active in-scope DoD Secret Clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) to start

  • Experience in Aerospace/Composites M&P

Basic Qualifications:

Sr. Principal Avionics RF Engineer (T04):

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 9 or more years of engineering experience or MS with 7 years or more year of engineering experience or Ph.D. with 4 or more years of engineering experience

  • Active in-scope DoD Secret Clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) to start

  • Experience in Aerospace/Composites M&P

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Active Top Secret Clearance

  • Familiarity with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures, familiar with metallic materials and processes

  • Experience providing engineering support for RF Performance Analysis

Salary Range: $92,600 - $139,000

Salary Range 2: $114,900 - $172,300

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
